The Rise and Fall Of The MIT Blackjack Team

Beating the casinos requires a great deal of training, patience, finesse, and of course, skill. It demands that the gambler understand the ins and outs of the games before they will be able to overcome the house. Some gamblers are so skilled that they can get away unscathed while others are caught red handed.

Blackjack has been a haven of scammers and cheaters trying to turn the favor to their side. The flaws of casino blackjack have already been revealed for more than ten years.

In the 19802, students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology played card for enjoyment until they came up with the idea of using their skills and maximize it in order to overcome the edge of the house. A former professor of the university gathered together his students, trained them, and selected the cream of the crop who had the skill to utilize verbal and non-verbal communication and blend it with training and playing skills to beat the house.

Beating the casino is not an easy task. The MIT Blackjack Team needed to disguise themselves in order to get away with their attempt. They used bogus identities for every member and lived up to that fake identity as much as possible. Semyon Dukach, one of the primary members of the MIT Blackjack Team, was of European descent. He used the identity to the latter by fronting as a Russian arms dealer looking to blow away plenty of cash.

The MIT Blackjack Team wrecked havoc in Las Vegas casinos during the 1990s. Their scheme caught the casinos of Vegas by surprise since they were not used to orchestrated and systematic plan of action.

Ultimately, the MIT Blackjack Team themselves led to the downfall and apprehension of the team. In the beginning, most of the members kept their cool but their success eventually poisoned their minds. The team was made up of young and vibrant members aged 20 or more. Because of their success, most of the members could book free trips to Las Vegas, and get the privilege of being treated as a VIP from hotel personnel.

It was only a matter of time until the players were immediately kicked out or prohibited from playing in casinos. They tried to resume their fake identities but they were apprehended immediately. For the MIT Blackjack Team, their success came into an end. However, they still played in casinos worldwide as an individual gambler.
